Who is the data controller?
Best Solar Installers Scotland is a trading name of Scot Energy Efficiency Ltd, company number 17408629, registered office 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA. We are the data controller for the personal data you provide through this website.
You can contact us about your personal data by emailing info@scottishenergyefficiency.co.uk or by calling 0141 230 0198.
What personal data do we collect?
When you fill in our quote form, we collect your full name, phone number, postcode, email address (optional) and what you are interested in (solar panels, a battery, or both). The commercial enquiry form also asks for your business name, property type and approximate annual electricity spend. We only collect what we need to arrange a survey and a quote for you.
We do not collect special category data such as health, ethnicity or political opinions. If you call us, we may take notes about your enquiry, but only what is needed to help you.
Why do we collect your data?
We use your data to arrange a survey of your property with a vetted installation partner that covers your postcode, to prepare a written, no-obligation quote, and to contact you about your enquiry. This is based on your consent when you tick the box on the form agreeing that we may contact you.
We also use aggregated, anonymous analytics data to understand how visitors use the website so we can improve it. This data does not identify you as an individual.
Who do we share your data with?
We share your enquiry details with MCS-certified installation partners who cover your postcode, so they can contact you to arrange a survey and prepare a quote. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone else for marketing purposes.
Our lead forms are processed through a secure webhook service (Zapier) and stored in a protected database. We do not pass your data to any other third party unless required by law.
How long do we keep your data?
We keep your enquiry data for as long as is necessary to arrange your quote and for a reasonable period afterwards (typically up to 12 months) in case you have follow-up questions or wish to re-enquire. If you ask us to delete your data, we will do so within 30 days unless there is a legal reason to keep it longer.
What are your rights?
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access your personal data and receive a copy of it
- Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Ask us to delete your data (the right to erasure)
- Withdraw your consent at any time, which means we will stop contacting you
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you are not satisfied with how we handle your data
To exercise any of these rights, email info@scottishenergyefficiency.co.uk and we will respond within 30 days.
How do we keep your data secure?
We use secure transmission (HTTPS) for all form submissions. Access to enquiry data is restricted to authorised staff. Our database is protected and access-controlled. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
